Tree Trimming Begins Next Week on Route 147 in Dauphin County

Work is to prepare for a resurfacing project to be completed next year

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that tree trimming is expected to begin next week on Route 147 in Dauphin County. This work is in preparation for resurfacing project that extends from Black Shoulder Lane in Halifax Township north through Millersburg Borough to Tarry Hall Road in Upper Paxton Township.

Weather permitting, tree trimming will be performed throughout the project limits starting Monday, October 13, and continuing for about two weeks. There will be flagging, as needed, during daylight hours.

Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

This work is part of a 4.8-mile resurfacing project that consists of milling, paving, base repairs, drainage replacement, guiderail upgrades, ADA ramps, new signs, new pavement markings, and other related construction activities.

Tree trimming will be performed this year. The remainder of the work will be completed next year.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor for this $4,333,187 project. All work is expected to be completed by November 13, 2026.
