    Pavement Patching Next Week on Route 30 in Hellam Township, York County

    Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that pavement patching is scheduled to begin next week on Route 30 in Hellam Township, York County. This work is part of a resurfacing project on Route 30 from just west of the Route 462/Hallam Exit to the Wrights Ferry bridge spanning the Susquehanna River.

    Weather permitting, pavement patching will be performed on both directions of Route 30 throughout the project limits from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM starting Monday, November 24. Work includes milling, paving, and line painting.

    This work will be performed through Wednesday, November 26, shut down Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday, then resume Monday, December 1, through Thursday, December 4, for a total of seven work days before the project shuts down for the winter. This work is weather and temperature dependent.

    There will be lane restrictions and rolling stops during work hours. This may cause delays.

    In addition to the work on Route 30, on Monday, December 1, there will be jacking equipment and temporary beam installation at the Cool Springs Road (Route 1016) bridge spanning Route 30 at the Route 462/Wrightsville Exit. There will be a right lane closure on eastbound Route 30 starting at 9:00 PM and lasting several hours.

    Bridge jacking is expected to be performed at the bridge starting at 3:00 AM Thursday, December 4. There will be rolling stops on eastbound Route 30 and both directions of Cool Springs Road for this work.

    An updated press release will be issued prior to this work.

    This resurfacing project consists of milling, asphalt resurfacing, base repair, concrete paving, concrete patching, drainage improvements, guiderail updates, line painting, sign updates, structure repairs and other miscellaneous construction on Route 30 (Arsenal Road) from just west of the Route 462/Hallam Exit to the Wrights Ferry Bridge spanning the Susquehanna River.

    Structure repairs are underway at Cool Springs Road bridge spanning Route 30. There are shoulder closures on eastbound and westbound Route 30.

    Milling and paving on eastbound and west bound Route 30 will take place during the 2026/2027 construction season.

    New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $15,475,000 project.

    All work on this contract is expected to be completed by December 21, 2027.
