    Message Board Maintenance Planned on NB I-83 in York County and WB I-78 in Berks County

    Right lane and right shoulder closures will be in place during work hours

    Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that digital message board maintenance is scheduled on northbound Interstate 83 in York County and westbound Interstate 78 in Berks County.

    Weather permitting, this work will be performed from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 29, on northbound I-83 just north of Exit 36 (Fishing Creek) in York County, then from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM the night of Wednesday, November 12, on westbound I-78 just west of Exit 10 (Route 645/Frystown) in Berks County.

    There will be a right lane and right shoulder closure at both locations during work hours.

    Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

    This work is part of a project to maintain and/or repair of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment at locations in the PennDOT District 8 southcentral Pennsylvania region, as well as the PennDOT District 4 northeast region and the PennDOT District 5 eastern region.

    Kuharchik Construction, Inc., of Exeter, PA, is the contractor on this $5,583,518 project. All work on this contract is expected to be completed by July 2, 2027.
