Work now includes deck repairs on SB I-83 ramp at Eisenhower Interchange
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today a PennDOT maintenance crew in Dauphin County is scheduled to perform additional work the weekend of October 25-26 in the area of the Eisenhower Interchange. The crew initially planned to perform deck repairs on the bridge carrying northbound Interstate 283 to northbound Interstate 83 in Swatara Township. Deck repairs on the southbound Interstate 83 ramp to southbound I-83 at the interchange is also scheduled that weekend.
Weather permitting, deck repairs on northbound I-283 to northbound I-83 will be performed from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM Saturday, October 25. Work on the southbound I-83 ramp will be performed during the same hours on Sunday, October 26.
Traffic will be detoured both days.
On Saturday, northbound I-283 traffic should exit to eastbound Route 322, proceed east and exit to Pen-Har Drive, follow Pen-Har Drive to Paxton Street, turn right and proceed to the ramp to westbound Route 322, then head west on Route 322 to northbound I-83. This detour corrects inaccurate detour information included in the previous release.
On Sunday, southbound I-83 traffic should exit at Exit 47 (322 East/Hershey/Eisenhower Boulevard), then take the second ramp (Paxton Street/I-83 South) to proceed to southbound I-83.
Travelers should be alert and drive with caution.
