PennDOT to Begin Old Allentown Road Bridge Replacement Project in Upper Gwynedd Township

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will begin on Monday, March 2, on a $345,692 to remove and replace the bridge that carries Old Allentown Road over Towamencin Creek with a residential driveway in Upper Gwynedd Township, Montgomery County

Under this project, PennDOT’s contractor will remove the current bridge, which is in poor condition, and replace the structure with a new driveway to maintain one property owner’s access point to Allentown Road. Ownership of the driveway will be transferred to the property owner. This project does not include work on the publicly used Allentown Road Bridge over Towamencin Creek.

Work on this project is expected to be completed this summer. Road restrictions are planned and will be announced prior to the beginning of any closure.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Richard E. Pierson Construction Co., Inc. of Pilesgrove, N.J., is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
