SEPTA to Close Lancaster Avenue for Rail Improvements in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that SEPTA will be performing rail improvements on Lancaster Avenue in Philadelphia, beginning Saturday, October 12.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

  • Saturday, October 12, through Saturday, November 15, Lancaster Avenue will be closed and detoured 24/7 between 40th Street and Brandywine Street. During the closure, motorists will be directed to Lancaster Avenue, 42nd Street, and Spring Garden Street. Motorists at 40th Street and Wallace Street will be directed to Wallace Street, 39th Street, Spring Garden Street, and 40th Street. Motorists at 39th Street and Haverford Avenue will be directed to 39th Street, Spring Garden Street, and 42nd Street.

Local access will be maintained. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
