Emergency Bridge Repair to Restrict Market Street Bridge in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge repair will restrict the Market Street Bridge in Philadelphia beginning Monday, August 11.

A section of the bridge deck has been damaged, resulting in the bridge being reduced to one lane in each direction for several weeks. PennDOT bridge engineers will conduct an inspection and establish a plan for emergency repairs.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
