Philadelphia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that the City of Philadelphia will be performing utility and roadway construction on Market Street in Center City Philadelphia beginning Monday, August 4.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, August 4, through Friday, November 17, westbound Market Street will be closed 24/7 between 2nd Street and 6th Street.Westbound Market Street motorists will be directed to use Front Street, Arch Street, and 6th Street. Eastbound Market Street will remain open to traffic.
Local access will be maintained. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The City of Philadelphia will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
