Philadelphia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge repair will close the ramp from westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) to U.S. 1 South (City Avenue/Exit 339) in Philadelphia this weekend.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- From 8:00 PM Friday, November 21, to 5:00 AM Monday, November 24, the ramp from westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) to U.S. 1 (City Avenue/Exit 339) will be closed and detoured. Motorists will be directed to continue west on I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway), exit at Gladwyne (Exit 337), turn left onto Hollow Road, turn left onto the ramp to I-76 East (Schuylkill Expressway), and continue on I-76 East (Schuylkill Expressway) to access the ramp to U.S. 1 South (City Avenue/Exit 339).
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because significant backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The bridge repair is part of a $41.3 million project to resurface and repair nearly five miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and more than 20 bridges in the City of Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County.
