Today, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 5 announced road restrictions are anticipated to commence Monday (April 20) for a project to improve Route 309 in Rush and Kline townships, Schuylkill County.
Route 309 will be improved between Ben Titus Road and Lofty Road.
Motorists should expect long-term lane restrictions on Route 309 north and south and allow for extra time traveling through the area. Updates will be provided whenever traffic pattern schedules change.
Work includes roadway milling, concrete patching, shoulder reconstruction, replacing center-median mountable curbing, paving, drainage upgrades, and guide rail updates.
New Enterprise Stone & Lime, Inc. of New Enterprise, PA is the general contractor on the $3,999,845 project, which is expected to be completed in November 2026.
This section of Route 309 has an average daily traffic volume of 15,640 vehicles.
Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following local alerts on X.
