Allentown, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 5 announced today work will begin Monday, April 27th, to replace the Indian Creek Road Bridge over Leibert Creek in Upper Milford Township, Lehigh County.
Beginning on Monday, April 27th, Indian Creek Road will be closed and detoured between Route 29/Cedar Crest Boulevard and Brookside Road. The detour will utilize Route 29/Cedar Crest Boulevard, Lower Macungie Road, and Brookside Road. The detour is anticipated to be in place until September 2026.
The project involves replacing the existing dual steel pipe arch bridge with a new pre-cast reinforced concrete box culvert. Other work includes approach roadway reconstruction and guide rail installation.
The existing bridge is 14 feet long and 29 feet wide and was constructed in 1973. The new structure will be 41 feet, 8 inches long and 26 feet, 2 inches wide. This section of Indian Creek Road has an average daily traffic of 2,143 vehicles.
Richard E. Pierson Construction Co., Inc. of Woodstown, NJ is the general contractor on the $1,384,436 project that is anticipated to be complete in January 2027.
