Dunmore, PA – There will be overnight driving and passing lane restrictions/closures on Interstate 81 northbound and southbound in Luzerne County beginning Monday, June 29, 2026, through Thursday, July 2, 2026, and Monday, July 6, 2026, through Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM nightly, for damaged guiderail replacement and other highway and shoulder improvements.
- Northbound lane closures will occur between Nanticoke/South Cross Valley Expressway (Exit 164) and Moosic (Exit 180).
- Southbound lane closures will occur between Avoca/Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (Exit 178) and Nanticoke/South Cross Valley Expressway (Exit 164).
When encountering a work zone, please drive the posted speed limit, turn on your headlights, pay close attention to signs and flaggers, and avoid all distractions. In high-traffic locations, motorists are encouraged to use both lanes of travel to the merge point and take turns merging into the open lane.
