    Bridge Improvements Will Require Lane Restrictions and Closures on Interstate 81 Southbound in Lackawanna County

    Dunmore, PA – There will be passing lane restrictions/closures on Interstate 81 southbound in Lackawanna County between Moosic (Exit 180) and Avoca/Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport (Exit 178) on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for bridge deck repairs. Motorists should anticipate possible delays and consider alternate routes, if possible.

    When encountering a work zone, please drive the posted speed limit, turn on your headlights, pay close attention to signs and flaggers, and avoid all distractions. In high-traffic locations, motorists are encouraged to use both lanes of travel to the merge point and take turns merging into the open lane.
