Dunmore, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to an online plans display regarding the Route 4026 (Prichards Road) bridge project. This project is located over a Branch of Hunlock Creek in Hunlock Township, approximately 5 miles east of Sweet Valley.
The purpose of this project is to address structural deficiencies of the bridge and to provide a continued safe and efficient crossing at this location. The project consists of replacing the existing stone arch culvert with a precast concrete box culvert.
The roadway will be closed for the duration of construction. Roadway improvements include full-depth reconstruction and installation of new guide rail.
The project is currently in design, and construction work is anticipated to take place in the 2028 construction season.
A digital version of the information will be available to view online starting on February 5, 2026.
Information, including roadway and bridge plans and an interactive comment form, can be found by visiting the PennDOT District 4 website: Route 4026 Prichards Road over a Branch of Hunlock Creek Bridge Project | Department of Transportation | Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
The purpose of the plans display is to introduce the project and receive public input regarding any questions or concerns with the project. It is also an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the project’s potential effect upon Cultural Resources pursuant to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation’s 36 CFR Part 800 regulations implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
