Dunmore, PA – There will be an overnight lane switch and lane restrictions on Interstate 81 northbound in Luzerne County between Dorrance (Exit 155) and Nuangola (Exit 159) on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, weather permitting, to advance the ongoing bridge construction project. During the traffic switch to the newly constructed bridge, northbound traffic will be reduced to one lane.
Demolition of the existing bridge is scheduled beginning Tuesday, June 9, 2026, through Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM nightly. During demolition, traffic on Interstate 81 northbound will be reduced to one lane, and Aberdeen Road (Route 3010) below the Interstate 81 bridges will be intermittently closed for 15-minute intervals. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
When encountering a work zone, please drive the posted speed limit, turn on your headlights, pay close attention to signs and flaggers, and avoid all distractions. In high-traffic locations, motorists are encouraged to use both lanes of travel to the merge point and take turns merging into the open lane.
