Overnight Lane Restrictions on Interstate 81 Northbound and Southbound in Luzerne County

Dunmore, PA – There will be overnight lane restrictions in both the driving and passing lanes on Interstate 81 northbound and southbound in Luzerne County beginning Monday, June 1, 2026, through Friday, June 5, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM daily (Friday night excluded) for guiderail replacement and road damage repair. Northbound restrictions will be in place between Exit 164 (Nanticoke/Route 29) and Exit 180 (Moosic). Southbound restrictions will be in place between Exit 178 (Avoca/Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport) and Exit 164 (Nanticoke/Route 29).

When encountering a work zone, please drive the posted speed limit, turn on your headlights, pay close attention to signs and flaggers, and avoid all distractions. In high-traffic locations, motorists are encouraged to use both lanes of travel to the merge point and take turns merging into the open lane.
