Fiber Optic Cable Installation Will Cause Overnight Rolling Slowdown on Interstate 81 in Luzerne County

Dunmore, PA – There will be short-term overnight lane restrictions and rolling slowdowns on Interstate 81 northbound southbound in Luzerne County between Avoca/Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (Exit 178) and Moosic (Exit 180) on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 12:00 AM to 1:00 AM for overhead fiber optic cable installation, weather dependent.

When encountering a work zone, please drive the posted speed limit, turn on your headlights, pay close attention to signs and flaggers, and avoid all distractions. In high-traffic locations, motorists are encouraged to use both lanes of travel to the merge point and take turns merging into the open lane.
