Dunmore, PA – There will be overnight ramp closures and restrictions on Interstate 81 northbound and southbound in Lackawanna County between Dunmore/Throop (Exit 188) and Clarks Summit (Exit 194) beginning on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, and continuing nightly from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM through Monday, June 29, 2026, for diamond grinding and epoxy placement to improve ride quality, skid resistance, and durability on bridges over the Lackawanna River, Main Avenue, and Scranton Carbondale Highway. Two of the projects require detours which will be clearly marked:
Overnight Detours to accommodate Lackawanna River Bridge project:
§ From Interstate 81 southbound: Pass Main Avenue (Exit 190) and continue south to Dunmore/Route 347 (Exit 188); make a left onto the O’Neill Highway (Route 347); exit right to Interstate 81 northbound; continue northbound to Dickson City/Main Avenue (Exit 190.)
§ From Main Avenue to Interstate 81 southbound: Take Main Avenue to the Interstate 81 northbound on ramp; follow Interstate 81 northbound to Scranton/Carbondale Highway (Exit 191B); remain in the right lane and exit right to Interstate 81 southbound.
Overnight Detours to accommodate Main Avenue Bridge project:
§ From Interstate 81 Southbound to Main Avenue: Pass Main Avenue/Dickson City (Exit 190) continuing southbound to Dunmore/Route 347 (Exit 188); bear left to the light staying in the far-right lane; turn left onto the O’Neill Highway/route 347; exit right to Interstate 81 northbound and continue northbound to Main Avenue/Dickson City (Exit 190.)
§ From Dickson City/Main Avenue to Interstate 81 Northbound: From Main Avenue, travel on Interstate 81 southbound to Dunmore/Route 347 (Exit 188); bear left to the light staying in the far-right lane; turn left onto the O’Neill Highway/Route 347; exit right to Interstate 81 northbound and continue northbound to Dickson City/Main Avenue (Exit 190.)
