PennDOT/BPC Announces Ramp Closure for Interstate 81 Susquehanna Bridge Project in Susquehanna County

Dunmore, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors (BPC)  announce a scheduled closure of Ramp C, which provides access to Interstate 81 southbound, as part of the ongoing I-81 Susquehanna Bridge Project.

On Wednesday night, November 19, starting at 6:00 PM, the contractor will be opening the I-81 southbound off ramp (Ramp B) at the Route 171 interchange, pending weather. Immediately following, they will close the I-81 southbound on ramp (Ramp C) from the Route 171 interchange. The Ramp C closure will be in effect from November 20, 2025, through early January 2026. During this time, motorists are advised to follow the posted detour by continuing south on Route 11 to the mile marker 223 interchange to access Interstate 81 southbound.

This project is part of the ongoing PennDOT Major Bridges P3 ProgramBridging Pennsylvania Developers – I (BPD-I), led jointly by Shikun & Binui Ltd and Macquarie Capital as Lead Project Developers and Equity Members. The Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors (BPC) joint venture consortium includes the design & construction expertise of S&B USA Construction (Pittsburgh, PA) and FCC Construction. S&B USA Construction is the construction arm of Shikun & Binui Ltd and is also the parent company of Fay, S&B USA Construction (Pittsburgh, PA), one of the four BPC Major Bridge subcontractors. Other Major Bridge subcontractors include the H&K Group (Skippack, PA), Kokosing Construction Company (Pittsburgh, PA), Wagman Heavy Civil (York, PA), and Lead Designer, Michael Baker International (Pittsburgh, PA).
