    5:35 AM UPDATE: (ROAD OPEN) I-80 WB Closed in Columbia County

    5:35 AM UPDATE: Interstate 80 westbound is open in Columbia County. ​

    ​Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that Interstate 80 westbound is closed at mile marker 246 (Columbia / Montour Rest Area) in Columbia County, due to a disabled tractor trailer. Vehicles are being detoured through the rest area.

    Motorists are advised that a Tier 4 vehicle restriction (no commercial vehicles) went into effect at 3:00 AM on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 on the following roads in District 3.

    • I-80 from milepost 173 (Lamar) to the New Jersey border.
    • I-180, entire length.

     
    On roadways with Tier 4 restrictions in place, no commercial vehicles are permitted. Additionally, all school buses, commercial buses, motor coaches, motorcycles, RVs/motorhomes and passenger vehicles (cars, SUVs, pickup trucks, etc.) towing trailers are not permitted on affected roadways while restrictions are in place.

    On roadways where vehicles are not restricted, commercial vehicle drivers in particular are encouraged to exercise caution in high winds. Drivers should ensure their loads are secure, reduce speeds, increase following distance, and use flashers if necessary.

    Restrictions will be communicated via variable message boards, the 511PA traveler information website and smartphone apps. Motorists can also sign up for personalized alerts on the website.

    Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following local alerts on X.
