Montoursville, PA – A two-year highway improvement project continues on Interstate 180 in the City of Williamsport, Loyalsock Township, Fairfield Township, and Montoursville Borough, Lycoming County.
Route 15 southbound
- On Sunday, June 28, the contractor will continue bridge deck waterproofing on Route 15 southbound bridges over Lycoming Creek and Route 220. This work will be done during both nighttime and daylight hours with a long-term lane closure in effect starting Sunday evening at 7:00 PM through Saturday afternoon, July 3.
- Beginning Monday evening, June 29, the contractor will continue paving the southbound lanes and on and off ramps to Route 15. This work will take place during nighttime hours. Drivers can expect alternating lane restrictions during paving operations.
- On Wednesday, July 1, the contractor will be removing and installing new guiderail on the ramp from Route 15 southbound to Route 220 southbound. During this work the ramp will be closed to traffic. Traffic will continue on Route 15 south to Interstate 180 eastbound and will use the Maynard Street interchange to enter Interstate 180 westbound/Route 220 southbound.
Interstate 180 eastbound Bridges over Loyalsock Creek
- Starting on Sunday, June 28, the contractor will continue rehabilitation of bridge parapets in order to construct new foundation for overhead lighting on the bridge over Loyalsock Creek. A long-term closure of the right (driving) lane shoulder will be in effect. This work will take place between Sunday evening at 7:00 PM through Friday morning at 6:00 AM.
Interstate 180 eastbound and westbound interchanges
- On Tuesday, June 30, the contractor will be placing reflective pavement markings and centerline skips in both directions between the bridges over Loyalsock Creek to Hepburn Street. This work will be performed as a slow-moving operation with no lane closures. Work will take place between 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
Faxon Interchange
- Highway lighting work will continue at the Faxon Interchange (Exit 25 / Northway Road) in Loyalsock Township. No impacts to traffic are expected, work will be performed outside the shoulder area between the hours of 6:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
Maynard Street Interchange
- Highway lighting work will continue at the Maynard Street Interchange (Exit 28) in the City of Williamsport.
No impacts to traffic are expected, work will be performed outside the shoulder area between the hours of 6:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Drivers should be alert, slow down, and drive with caution through the work zone.
Glenn O. Hawbaker is the prime contractor for this two-year, $14 million, highway improvement project on Interstate 180 between Brushy Ridge Road (Route 2026) in Fairfield Township and the Route 15 interchange in the City of Williamsport. Work on the project includes the mill and resurface of 11 miles of I-180 between Basin Street (Route 2062) and Warrensville Road (Route 2022), this work includes the Faxon (Exit 25) and Route 15 (Exit 29) interchanges, base repairs, high friction surface treatment, tree removal, drainage upgrades, guide rail and signal upgrades. Additional work includes updated highway lighting, bridge preservation work, and pavement markings. Work on the project is anticipated to be completed in the fall 2026.
