Montoursville, PA – Drivers are advised that a bridge maintenance and roadway resurfacing project continues this weekend on Route 405 in Upper Augusta Township and in the City of Sunbury, Northumberland County.
On Monday, June 8, the contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. will apply a new wearing surface on the two bridges spanning the Susquehanna River between Northumberland Borough and the City of Sunbury. Work includes application of an epoxy overlay, placing strip seal dam gland and placing pavement markings.
Traffic Impacts
- Route 405 southbound traffic will be detoured using Route 11, Route 61, Route 405 through the end of June.
- Route 405 northbound traffic will be maintained in the work zone. Drivers can expect single lane conditions with flagging between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. is the prime contractor for this $3.7 million roadway improvement project. Additional work includes milling and resurfacing on Front Street in Sunbury and Bridge Avenue in Upper Augusta Township, overhead sign replacement on the Thomas Edison Bridge, epoxy overlay and lighting upgrades on the Thomas Edison and Joseph Priestley bridges, guide rail upgrades, tree trimming and pavement markings. Work on this project is anticipated to be completed in November 2026.
