Traffic Signals Project in Howard Township Resumes Monday

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that work to upgrade the traffic signals at the intersection of routes 26, 150, and 1001 (Howard Divide Road) in Howard Township, Centre County, will resume Monday, April 6. The goal of this project is to improve traffic safety by reducing traffic congestion at the intersection.

Most work will take place off the roadway behind the guiderail with minimal impact on traffic. However, PennDOT urges drivers to stay alert as flaggers may e periods when they are in the roadway directing traffic.

PennDOT’s original projections had this project being completed in March 2025, but a safety issue was discovered with one of the mast arm poles. That mast arm could not be retrofitted, and the project was delayed while a new pole was fabricated.

Work to be performed under this contract includes installing traffic signal supports, signal heads, conduits, line painting, and miscellaneous construction. M and B Services of Clarion, PA, is the contractor on this $290,000 project. PennDOT’s current projection for the project’s completion is mid-April. All construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
