Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that work on a highway restoration project on Route 22 will restart on Monday, March 9, between the interchange for Business 22/Lewistown and the Juniata-Mifflin County line, approximately two miles east of the interchange. The overall project will improve the ride quality and extend the service life of more than 16 miles of roadway in Juniata and Mifflin Counties.
Starting Monday, the contractor will close the left lane in both directions near the interchange. While the left lane is closed, a width restriction of 12 feet, 6 inches will be in place for the eastbound and westbound lanes. Workers will be in the roadway while setting up the traffic pattern, so PennDOT urges caution when traveling through the zone.
Work at this location is expected to continue through April before shifting to Juniata County. PennDOT will issue an update before work shifts locations.
Work for this contract includes highway restoration, guide rail installation, pavement marking, and miscellaneous construction. JVI Group, Inc., of York Springs, PA, is the contractor for this $5.9 million project. PennDOT anticipates project completion by Labor Day, but all construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
