Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that resurfacing work on Route 445 between Routes 45 and 192 in Milheim Borough, Penn and Miles townships is slated to begin on Wednesday, October 15. This work is part of a larger contract to improve the ride quality and extend the service life of approximately 18.5 miles across seven routes in Centre and Clinton counties.
Crews will start by removing guiderail and excavating the site, with PennDOT expects will take approximately a week to complete. It expects surface preparation to begin on Wednesday, October 22, with paving to follow Monday, October 27, through Friday, October 31. All schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours for the duration of the work. PennDOT urges drivers to anticipate delays, exercise caution in work zones, obey flaggers and other posted work zone signage, and always buckle up.
Overall work on this project includes surface preparation and paving operations, pavement marking, guiderail installation and miscellaneous construction. Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc., of State College, PA, is the contractor on this $5 million project.
