PennDOT Reopens Elmwood Street Bridge Near Lemont

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that it reopened a Route 3010 (Elmwood Street) bridge near Lemont around noon today as work on a bridge rehabilitation project draws to a close. The bridge spans Route 322 near the Route 26-State College exit in College Township, Centre County, and the rehabilitation work improved its ride quality and overall condition rating while extending its service life.

PennDOT also lifted a detour using Pike Street and Route 26 that it implemented in June.

Some work on the underside of the bridge remains and will result in minimal traffic impacts on Route 322. Additionally, drivers should expect to encounter single-lane closures with flaggers in the roadway on Tuesday, September 2, and Wednesday, September 3, as crews apply high-friction surface treatments to the bridge. All schedules are weather-dependent as crews cannot complete high-friction surface treatments in the rain.

Work on two other Centre County bridges was included in this contract. The contractor finished work on a Route 504 bridge spanning Wallace Run in Boggs Township during the 2024 construction season. It completed repairs on a Route 26 bridge spanning Route 322 in June. H&P Construction Inc. of Kulpmont, PA, is the contractor on this $1.4 million project.
