PennDOT’s Westmoreland County Maintenance Update

Week of May 18, 2026

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of May 18. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

Drivers can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Base repair:

  • Route 136 (Main Street) in West Newton Borough
  • Route 51 in Rostraver township

Bridge flushing:

  • Route 30 in Unity and Derry townships
  • Various routes in New Kensington and Apollo

Box culvert replacement:

  • Route 4041 (Denmark Manor Rd) in Penn Township
    • Road closed between Manor Valley Golf Course and Harrison City Export Road
      • Detour:
        • Denmark Manor Road
        • Harrison City Export Road
        • Blank Road

Crack sealing:

  • Route 906 in the City of Monessen
  • Route 201 (Rostraver Road) in Rostraver Township
  • Route 3003 (Pricedale Road) in Rostraver Township
  • Route 981 (Peer Street) in Smithton Borough
  • Route 31 (Glades Pike) Mt Pleasant Township

Ditching:

  • Route 2035 (Solomon Temple Road) in Ligonier Township
  • Route 1017 (Gravel Hill) in Ligonier Township

Inlet repairs:

  • Route 819 (Diamond St) in Hempfield Township
  • Route 22 in Salem Township

Parallel ditching:

  • Route 819 (Diamond Street) in Hempfield Township

Patching:

  • Route 30 in Unity Township

Pipe flushing:

  • Route 2012 (Depot Street/Armburst/Brinkerton Road) in Hempfield Township

Pipe repair:

  • Route 2001 (Bridgeport Road) in Mt Pleasant Township
  • Route 2021 (Kecksburg Road) in Norvelt

Shoulder cutting:

  • Various routes in Bell, Washington, and Allegheny townships
  • Route 819 in Washington and Salem townships
  • Route 982 in Washington and Salem townships
  • Route 1006 (Creekroad) in Fairfield Township

Tail ditching:

  • Route 2001 (Bridgeport Road) in Mt Pleasant Township

Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, and update existing signs, as well as address work orders on various state routes throughout the county. 

PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

Drivers can check conditions on major roads by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts
