PennDOT’s Westmoreland County Maintenance Update

Week of May 11, 2026

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of May 11. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

Drivers can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Base repair:

  • Route 136 (Main Street) in West Newton Borough
  • Route 51 in Rostraver Township
  • Route 981 in Salem, Mt. Pleasant, and Unity townships

Bridge cleaning:

  • Interstate 70 throughout the county 
  • Route 119 in the Connellsville and New Stanton area

Box culvert replacement:

  • Route 4041 (Denmark Manor Rd) in Penn Township
    • Road closed between Manor Valley Golf Course and Harrison City Export Road
      • Detour:
        • Denmark Manor Road
        • Harrison City Export Road
        • Blank Road

Crack sealing:

  • Route 906 in the City of Monessen
  • Interstate 70 in Rostraver Township
  • Route 31 in Mt. Pleasant Township

Drainage repair:

  • Route 381 in Cook Township

Edge paving:

  • Route 400 in Bell and Washington townships

Inlet repair:

  • Route 22 in Delmont

Paving:

  • Route 3077 (Edna Road) in Hempfield Township

Pipe flushing:

  • Route 31 (Mt. Pleasant Road) in South Huntingdon Township
  • Route 3037 (Waltz Mill Road) in South Huntingdon Township
  • Route 2012 (Depot Street) in Hempfield Township
  • Route 2012 (Armbrust/Brinkerton Rd) Hempfield Township

Pipe installation:

  • Route 1006 (Creek Road) in Fairfield Twp

Shoulder cutting:

  • Route 400 in Bell and Washington townships
  • Route 819 in Bell and Washington townships
  • Route 286 in Bell and Washington townships
  • Route 981 in Bell Township
  • Route 381 in Ligonier Township

Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, and update existing signs, as well as address work orders on various state routes throughout the county. 

PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

Drivers can check conditions on major roads by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts
