Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of October 5. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.
Drivers can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
Ditching:
- Route 3089 (Buttermore Avenue) in East Huntingdon Township
Edge paving:
- Route 2017 (Marguerite Road) in Unity Township
Road inventory:
- Route 30 in Ligonier Township
Patching:
- Various routes in Westmoreland County
Pipe installation/drainage:
- Route 1027 (Laughlin Farm Road) in Derry Township
Pipe repair:
- Route 2021 (MT Pleasant/Kecksburg Road) in Mt. Pleasant Township
Pipe flushing:
- Route 3089 (Buttermore Avenue) in East Huntingdon Township
- Route 271 in Fairfield Township
Shoulder cutting:
- Route 2033 (Bethel Church Road) in Cook Township
- Route 130 in Cook Township
- Route 2004 (Austin Boulevard) in Donegal Township
Pavement restoration:
- Route 3089 (Water Street) in East Huntingdon Township
- Route 31 in South Huntingdon Township
- Route 3093 (Center Avenue) in East Huntingdon and Hempfield townships
Road repair:
- Route 4002 (North Greengate Road) in Hempfield Township
Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, and update existing signs, as well as address work orders on various state routes throughout the county.
PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.
Travelers can check conditions on major roads by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
