PennDOT’s Westmoreland County Maintenance Update

Week of July 13, 2026      

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of July 13. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

Drivers can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Base repair:

  • Route 30 (Between Marguerite Road and Sand Hill Road) in Unity Township

Cleaning ditch channels:

  • Route 1008 (Derry Ridge Road and Twin Maples Road) in Derry Township
  • Route 381 in Cook Township

Crack sealing:

  • Route 981 in Derry Township
  • Route 119 in Hempfield Township
  • Route 51 in Rostraver Township
  • Route 201 in Rostraver Township

Pipe repair/replacement:

  • Route 3073 (Buttermore Road) in East Huntingdon Township
  • Route 2012 (Depot Street Extension) in Hempfield Township
  • Route 2003 (School Street) in Mt. Pleasant Township
  • Route 130 in Unity Township

Patching:

  • Various routes in Upper Burrell and Washington townships
  • Various routes throughout Westmoreland County

Parallel ditching:

  • Route 819 (Diamond Street) in Hempfield Township

Parallel pipe:

  • Route 982 in Unity Township

Surface treatment:

  • Route 993 (Trafford Road) in Penn Township
  • Route 4014 (Maple Lane) in North Huntingdon Township
  • Route 4023 (Brownstown Road) in North Huntingdon Township
  • Route 4021 (Skellytown Road) in North Huntingdon Township

Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, and update existing signs, as well as address work orders on various state routes throughout the county. 

PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

Travelers can check conditions on major roads by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts
