PennDOT’s Westmoreland County Maintenance Update

Week of April 27, 2026

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of April 27. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

Drivers can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Brushing/sweeping:

  • Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) in Hempfield Township

Base repair:

  • Route 136 (Main Street) in West Newton Borough
  • Route 51 in Rostraver Township

Ditching:

  • Route 2035 (Solomon Temple Road) in Ligonier Township
  • Route 711 in Ligonier and Cook townships

Bridge cleaning/flushing:

  • Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) in Hempfield Township
  • Various locations in East Huntingdon, South Huntingdon, Hempfield, Mt. Pleasant and Sewickley townships

Side dozing:

  • Route 381 in Donegal Township
  • Route 711 in Donegal Township

Shoulder cutting:

  • Route 981 in Derry and Bell townships
  • Route 819 in Salem Townships

Crack sealing:

  • Route 31 in Mt. Pleasant and Cook townships

Pipe repair:

  • Route 3083 (Homestead Avenue) in East Huntingdon Township

Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, and update existing signs, as well as address work orders on various state routes throughout the county. 

PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

Drivers can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts
