    PennDOT’s Fayette County Maintenance Update

    Week of October 5, 2026

    Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Fayette County Maintenance Manager Jason L. Spangler has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of October 5. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations. 

    Drivers can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

    Pipe flushing:

    • Various routes in Fayette County

    Crack sealing:

    • Route 21 (German Road) in Bullskin Township
    • Route 1051 (Breakneck Road) in Bullskin Township

    Ditch cleaning:

    • Route 1050 (Quail Hill Road) in Bullskin Township
    • Route 1051 (Nicholson Road) in Bullskin Township

    Base repair:

    • Route 4034 (Perry Road) in Jefferson Township
    • Route 4036 (Central School/Quacker Church/Newell Road) in Jefferson Township
    • Route 4038 (Tony Row Road) in Perry Township
    • Route 4005 (Grindstone Road) in Jefferson Township
    • Route 166 (Thornton Road) in Luzerne Township       
    • Route 40 in Henry Clay Township

    Wing wall repair:

    • Route 4001 (Rush Run Road) in Luzerne Township

    Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, and update existing signs, as well as address work orders on various state routes throughout the county. 

    PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

    Travelers can check conditions on major roads by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
