    PennDOT’s Fayette County Maintenance Update

    Week of August 31, 2026

    Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Fayette County Maintenance Manager Jason L. Spangler has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of August 31. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

    Drivers can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

    Brush cutting:

    • Various routes in Fayette County

    Drainage repair:

    • Various routes in Fayette County

    Shoulder stabilization:

    • Various routes in Fayette County

    Shoulder cutting:

    • Route 1051 (Bute Road) in Dunbar Township
    • Route 1053 (Arch Bridge Road/ Butchko Road) in Dunbar Township

    Base repair:

    • Route 4016 (Pleasant View Smock/ Upper Middletown Road) in Menallen and Redstone townships
    • Route 4014 (Pleasant View Smock Road) in Menallen and Redstone townships
    • Route 4009 (Pleasant View Road) in Menallen and Redstone townships
    • Route 4010 (Fairbanks Herbert Road) in Menallen and Redstone townships

    Pipe replacement:

    • Route 281 (Mae West Road) in Henry Clay Township.

    Bridge replacement:

    • Route 1009 (White Road) in Saltlick Township
      • Posted Detour in place.

    Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, and update existing signs, as well as address work orders on various state routes throughout the county. 

    PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

    Travelers can check conditions on major roads by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
