This local project involves the reconstruction of four traffic signals within the City of Uniontown. Signal improvements are necessary to accommodate the planned installation of a separated multi-use trail parallel to the Beeson Avenue corridor. Implementation of the trail will be conducted by other parties and is set to take place after the traffic signals reconstruction period. Three of the signalized intersections are located along the Beeson Avenue corridor, while the fourth is an adjacent intersection that will provide traffic signal control for the trail crossing.
This project is sponsored and managed by a local partner, Fayette County, which is responsible for design, scheduling, stakeholder engagement, public comments, and construction. PennDOT provides oversight and technical assistance because the project receives state and/or federal funding, ensuring applicable funding, bidding, and construction requirements are met. The local partner is responsible for receiving and responding to public comments. Fayette County owns and leads the project; PennDOT provides funding oversight, guidance, and regulatory review.
