The bridge is owned by the City of Uniontown, with PennDOT overseeing project delivery and construction activities.
Uniontown, PA—Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing a portion of North Gallatin Avenue between East Penn Street to Lincoln Street in the City of Uniontown, Fayette County, is scheduled to close beginning Monday, June 22.
A posted detour will be in place until mid-September using East Penn Street and Bailey Avenue. A posted pedestrian detour will be in place using East Penn Street, North Beeson Avenue, and Maple Street.
During the closure, crews from Kukurin Contracting Inc. will work to improve the structure carrying North Gallatin Avenue over Redstone Creek. The stone masonry abutments will remain in place and only a superstructure replacement of the existing single span I-beam bridge with a new cast-in-place concrete superstructure will be completed. Work will also include minor approach work, sidewalk, and curb installation — a $2.5 million infrastructure investment.
All work depends on weather and operations.
Drivers should exercise caution while traveling through work zones and be alert for workers. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
