    Interstate 70 Lane Restrictions Scheduled in Westmoreland County

    Lane restrictions in place for Diverging Diamond Interchange Project

    Uniontown, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that single-lane restrictions are scheduled to occur in both directions on Interstate 70 between Exit 44 (Arnold City) and Exit 49 (Smithton) in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County.

    Eastbound I-70 single-lane restrictions:

    • Thursday, March 19 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
    • Friday, March 20 from 2:00 AM to 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
    • Saturday, March 21 from 2:00 AM to 6:00 AM

    Westbound I-70 single-lane restrictions:

    • Saturday, March 21 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

    During the single-lane restrictions crews from Golden Triangle will:

    • Placing permanent barrier tie-ins on Eastbound I-70.
    • Performing shoulder work, including stabilization and installation of additional traffic control in shoulder areas on Westbound I-70.

    This work is part of the $120.6 million I-70 at Route 51 Interchange Project, which will reconstruct I-70 at Exit 46 to make the section similar to other reconstructed sections to the east and west. A Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) will replace the current substandard cloverleaf Route 51 interchange.

    Drivers are asked to exercise caution driving through the work zone. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
