Interstate 70 Lane Restriction Scheduled in Westmoreland County

Uniontown, PA—Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that single-lane restrictions are scheduled to occur in both directions on Interstate 70 between Exit 43 (Route 201 Fayette City) and Exit 46 (Route 51/I-70 Interchange) in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, weather permitting.

Single-lane restrictions will be in place from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on:

  • Thursday, March 12
  • Monday, March 16
  • Tuesday, March 17

Crews will be preparing the bridge for future deck placement.

Drivers are asked to exercise caution driving through the work zone. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

This work is part of the I-70 at Arnold City Interchange project, which connects Route 3011 (Finley Road/Indian Hill Road) and Daugherty Lane to I-70. The project aims to enhance safety and traffic operations at the interchange and along the interstate. The project area is approximately 1.75 miles long, extending from the I-70 bridge over the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad to 1.37 miles east of the Arnold City Interchange. Golden Triangle Construction Company, Inc. is the prime contractor.

The $89 million infrastructure investment will include widening the median from four (4) feet to 10 feet and the outside shoulders from 10 to 12 feet. The reconstructed interchange will utilize a diamond configuration with a five-leg roundabout connecting the eastbound ramps with Indian Hill Road and Finley Road. The westbound ramps will be rebuilt as standard diamond ramps with a non-signalized intersection. The roadway will be shifted approximately four (4) feet to the north to accommodate the widening.
