PennDOT’s Westmoreland County Maintenance Update

Week of September 8, 2025

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager David Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of September 8. All maintenance activities are dependent on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Parallel ditching:

  • Route 3081 (Catalina Farm Road) in East Huntington Township

Edge paving:

  • Route 3037 (Rolling Hills Road/Waltz Mills Road) in South Huntingdon and Sewickley townships

Pipe/box culvert installation:

  • Route 1067 (Laughner Road) in Fairfield Township
  • Route 1017 (Wilpen Road) in Ligonier Township

Shoulder cutting:

  • Route 819 (Five Point Road) in Hempfield and Salem townships
  • Route 1022 (Crabtree/Kemp/Bardine Road) in Unity and Salem townships
  • Route 1055 (Hannastown Road) in Hempfield and Salem townships
  • Route 1057 (Beaver Run Road) in Salem Township
  • Route 4002 (Locust Valley Road) in Hempfield Township
  • Route 4045 (Boquet Road) in Salem Township

Surface treatment:

  • Route 981 (Scottdale Smithton Road) in South Huntingdon Township
  • Route 3035 (Mendon Road) in South Huntingdon Township
  • Route 3033 (Jacobs Creek) in South Huntingdon Township
  • Route 3010 (Pittsburgh Pike) in South Huntingdon Township
  • Route 3059 (Turkeytown/Motordrome Road) in South Huntingdon Township

Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, update existing signs, and address work orders on various state routes throughout the county.

PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, available free of charge 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices by calling 5-1-1 or following regional X alerts.
