PennDOT’s Westmoreland County Maintenance Update

Week of August 11th, 2025

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of August 11. All maintenance activities are dependent on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Bridge inspection:

  • Interstate 70 in Rostraver Township

Edge paving:

  • Route 201 (Rostraver Road) in Rostraver Township
  • Route 3081 (Catalina Farm Road) in East Huntingdon Township
  • Route 3037 (Waltz Mill Road) in South Huntingdon and Sewickley Townships

Parallel ditching:

  • Route 3081 (Catalina Farm Road) in East Huntingdon Township

Paving:

  • Route 1026 (Donohoe Road) in Hempfield Township

Pipe installation:

  • Route 1067 (Laughner Road) in Fairfield Township
  • Route 1017 (Wilpen Road) in Ligonier Township

Pipe replacement:

  • Route 1061 (Trees Mills Road) in Salem Township

      • Route 819
      • Route 66
      • Route 22

Shoulder cutting:

  • Various routes in Hempfield, Unity, and Salem townships

Shoulder stabilization:

  • Route 31 (Chestnut Ridge Road) in Donegal Township
  • Route 711 in Cook and Ligonier townships

Surface treatment:

  • Various routes in Rostraver and Sewickley Townships

Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, update existing signs, and address work orders on various state routes throughout the county.

PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, available free of charge 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices by calling 5-1-1 or following regional X alerts.
