Interstate 70 Surface Improvement Work in Westmoreland County

Uniontown, PA— The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing a ramp closure and single-lane restrictions on Interstate 70 in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County beginning Monday, October 6 weather permitting.

Ramp Closure October 6 through October 10:

  • Exit 57 (New Stanton/Hunker) will be closed to traffic from westbound I-70. The detour will utilize Exit 54 (Madison/Hunker), Hunker Road, Waltz Mill Road, eastbound I-70, and Exit 57 (New Stanton/Hunker).
  • Motorists exiting the Pennsylvania Turnpike onto Exit 57 will still be able to enter I-70 through the roundabout in New Stanton.

Single-lane restrictions October 6 through October 22:

  • Westbound I-70 between the entrance ramp to the Pennsylvania Turnpike and the New Stanton Youngwood Intersection.

Tresco Paving Corporation and Gulisek will performing accelerated concrete patching as part of a $11.3 million infrastructure investment.

Motorists should exercise caution traveling through work zones and be alert for workers. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
