Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing traffic pattern updates scheduled at the Diverging Diamond Interchange on Route 51 in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County.
Monday, November 24
- Crews from Golden Triangle and Power Contracting will transition the traffic signals into their permanent configuration.
Tuesday, November 25
- All lanes on Route 51 are expected to open to traffic at approximately 5:00 PM.
Additionally, emergency preemption testing will be conducted Monday, November 24 and Tuesday, November 25 in the afternoon by the Rostraver Township Police and Fire Departments. Police-assisted traffic stoppages will occur throughout both days to facilitate this testing.
Motorists should anticipate delays, intermittent stoppages, and are encouraged to allow extra travel time during these traffic pattern adjustments.
This work is part of the $120.6 million I-70 at Route 51 Interchange Project, which will reconstruct I-70 at Exit 46 to make the section similar to other reconstructed sections to the east and west. A Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) will replace the current substandard cloverleaf Route 51 interchange.
Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
