    PennDOT's Washington County Maintenance Update

    September 21, 2023

    Uniontown, PA – Washington County Maintenance Manager Susan Howard announced the following tentative work plan for the week of September 25, 2023. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations. 

    During county maintenance work activities motorists should expect to encounter flaggers, single-lane restrictions, moving operations, and detours. Motorists should drive with caution throughout all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the usage of headlights. 

    Base repair:

    • Route 1061 (Mingo Church Road) in Nottingham Township.
    • Route 1087 (Ginger Hill Road) in Union Township. 

    Boom mowing:

    • Route 4014 (Eldersville Road to Cedar Grove Road) in Jefferson Township.
    • Route 4023 (Strope Road) in Jefferson Township.
    • Route 4025 (Meneely Road to Cedar Grove Road) in Jefferson Township.
    • Route 4027 (Cedar Grove Road) in Jefferson Township. 

    Bridge repair:

    • Route 231 (East Finley Drive) in East Finley Township.
    • Route 3021 (McGuffey Road) in West Finley Township. 

    Brushing:

    • Route 4036 (Brush Run Road) in Independence Township.
    • Route 4059 (Green Cove Road) in Hopewell Township. 

    Debris/litter removal:

    • Route 40 (Main Street to National Pike) in Centerville and West Brownsville boroughs and West Pike Run Township.
    • Interstate 70 in Buffalo, Donegal, Fallowfield and Somerset townships and Speers and Twilight boroughs.
    • Route 4024 (Clays/Taylorstown Road to Rural Valley Road) in Blaine and Buffalo townships.
    • Route 4059 (Post Road to Green Cove Road) in Blaine and Hopewell townships. 

    Mowing:

    • Interstate 70, Ramps 8025 (Donora Borough) and Ramp 8014 (Jefferson Avenue).
    • Route 519 Park and Ride, Ramps 9503 and 9501 in North Strabane Township.
    • Interstate 79 Park and Ride, Ramp 9504 (Beau Street) in South Strabane Township.

    Patching:

    • Route 18 (Burgettstown Florence Road) in Hanover and Smith townships.
    • Route 40 (National Pike) in Centerville Borough.
    • Route 40 (National Pike to Chestnut Street Extension) in Buffalo, Canton and Donegal townships and Claysville Borough and City of Washington.
    • Interstate 70 in Buffalo, Canton, Donegal and North Franklin townships and City of Washington.
    • Route 1020 (Taylor Run Road) in Carroll Township. 

    Shoulder cutting:

    • Route 4022 (Green Valley Road to West Wylie Avenue) in Buffalo and Canton townships and City of Washington. 

    Slide repair:

    • Route 2022 (Barr Run Road) in West Bethlehem Township. 

    Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit. 

    Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the County. 

    PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern.  This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways.  The number is 1-800-FIX ROAD (1-800-349-7623).  

    Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 

    511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts.
