Northbound Interstate 79 Cable Median Guiderail Installation Begins This Week

​Uniontown, PA – PennDOT District 12 would like to inform motorists that cable median guiderail installation work is occurring on northbound Interstate 79 beginning today, June 7 and continuing through mid-September, weather and operational dependent.

Weekday intermittent single-lane restrictions will be utilized to perform the work, which will begin in Greene County and move to Washington County as the project advances. Restrictions will be in place as follows:

Greene County:

  • Northbound Interstate 79 in Perry, Whitely, and Franklin Townships between the Mount Morris Welcome Center and the Masontown/Waynesburg exit (Exit 14) between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, as needed.

Washington County:

  • Northbound Interstate 79 in South Strabane and North Strabane Townships between the Houston/Eighty Four exit (Exit 43) and the Southpointe/Hendersonville exit (Exit 48) between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM or between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM, as needed.

Motorists should exercise caution traveling through work zones, be alert for workers, and allow additional travel time.

Crews from Nationwide Construction Group will be performing the work.

This work is part of a $1.3 million project for the installation of cable median guiderail at various locations on Interstate 79 in Greene and Washington Counties. The project is anticipated to be complete in September 2023.
