Pittsburgh, PA –The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing closures of the outbound I-279 and I-579 High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes in the City of Pittsburgh and Ross Township, Allegheny County will begin Monday night, August 3 weather permitting.
To ensure work zone safety at the Jacks Run Road Bridge, the HOV lanes will close to traffic in the outbound (northbound) direction according to the following schedule:
Monday through Thursday nights, August 3-6
- Each night from 8:00 PM until the directional switch is made for the morning rush hour
Friday night, August 7
- Approximately two hours after the end of the Pittsburgh Pirates game (or 9:00 PM if the game is postponed) until 10:00 AM Saturday morning
The HOV lanes will return to normal operations outside of the closures listed above.
As a reminder, a single lane of I-279/I-579 HOV northbound (outbound) will be closed, and HOV traffic will be diverted off at the McKnight Road exit from 7:00 PM to midnight tonight, Friday, July 31. After midnight, the HOV will be fully closed from 12:01 AM Saturday, August 1 until 6:00 AM Monday, August 3.
