Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing a lane restriction on northbound Route 51 in West Mifflin and Pleasant Hills boroughs, Allegheny County will begin Friday, October 9 weather permitting.
To accommodate curb and sidewalk work and road widening operations, there will be a single-lane restriction on northbound Route 51 between Old Lebanon Church Road and Fidelity Drive around-the-clock from 9:00 AM Friday through 10:00 PM Monday, October 12. The restrictions could be lifted earlier if the work is completed sooner.
Work on this $28.16 million betterment project includes widening, milling and paving, concrete patching, drainage improvements, signal upgrades, and guide rail updates will occur between Broughton Road in South Park Township and Ceco Drive in West Mifflin Borough. The project will occur in phases and require short-term and long-term lane closures, weekend lane restrictions, and a short-term ramp detour at the Route 51 interchange. The overall project is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2027.
