Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing the closure of the ramp from the McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge to southbound Route 837 in the City of Duquesne, Allegheny County has been extended.
The ramp from the McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge to southbound Route 837 will remain closed to traffic continuously through late December to accommodate the reconstruction of a span of the structure. Traffic will be detoured.

McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge to southbound Route 837
- Cross the McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge
- Bear right toward the ramp to southbound Route 837 toward Dravosburg/Clairton
- Continue past the closed ramp to southbound Route 837
- At the traffic light, turn left onto Center Street
- Turn left onto South Duquesne Boulevard (Route 837)
- At the McKeesport-Duquesne Bridge, bear right to continue onto southbound Route 837
- End detour
Work on this $50.77 million bridge preservation project includes the following:
- Full structure painting
- Concrete repairs to barriers, sidewalks, and substructure units
- Bearing replacement and maintenance
- Steel member repairs
- Replacement of deck joints, approach slabs, impact attenuators, sign structures, and protective fencing
- Curb ramp installation
- Drainage repairs
- Sidewalk, barrier, and gutterline cleaning and sealing
- Application of an epoxy resin protective coating on concrete substructure units
- Replacement of existing luminaires with LED luminaires mounted to existing mast arms, and replacement of navigation lights and placards
- Latex modified concrete deck overlay
- Installation of wayfinding signs for the Three Rivers Water Trail
- Replacement of DLC conduit and service vault cages under the eastern bridge sidewalk
- Other miscellaneous construction activities
