Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing bridge inspection activities requiring lane restrictions on various roads and ramps in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County will begin Monday, October 5 weather permitting.
To accommodate inspection activities, there will be weekly restrictions on I-579 and various ramps between Fifth Avenue and I-279, as well as some additional roads surrounding the structures, through late November. The prime consultant on this contract is HDR, Inc. and various subconsultants will assist with the inspection activities.
A release will be issued each week announcing updated restriction locations and the companies performing the work.
Crews from STV, Inc. and Sofis Rigging Company will conduct inspection activities Monday through Friday, October 5-9, in the following locations according to the schedule below:
Monday, October 5 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- There will be alternating lane restrictions on Fifth Avenue between Sixth Avenue and Diamond Street
- There will be alternating lane restrictions on Diamond Street between Sixth Avenue and Fifth Avenue
Wednesday, October 7 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- There will be alternating lane restrictions on Sixth Avenue between Fifth Avenue and Forbes Avenue
- There will be alternating lane restrictions on Forbes Avenue between Diamond Street and Shingiss Street
Thursday, October 8 from 6:00 PM until 2:00 AM Friday, October 9
- There will be restrictions on top of the Manor Complex Garage to allow crews access to the I-579 structure overhead.
The restrictions could be lifted earlier if the work is completed sooner.
