I-579, Bigelow Boulevard Inspection Activities Wednesday, Thursday in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing bridge inspection activities requiring restrictions on I-579 and Bigelow Boulevard in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County will occur Wednesday and Thursday, August 19-20 weather permitting.

To accommodate inspection activities, the following restrictions will be in place from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM according to the schedule below:

Wednesday, August 19

  • A single-lane restriction will occur on northbound I-579 between the off-ramp to PPG Arena/Centre Avenue and the Veterans Bridge
  • Traffic will be shifted on the ramp from northbound Crosstown Boulevard to east 380/Bigelow Boulevard

Thursday, August 20

  • A single-lane restriction will occur on southbound I-579 between the 7th Avenue/6th Avenue off-ramp and the on-ramp from Bigelow Boulevard
  • A single-lane restriction will occur on westbound Bigelow Boulevard just north of the PPG Arena/6th Avenue off-ramp

Crews from Mackin Engineering and the Sofis Rigging Company will conduct the inspection work. The ramps listed above will remain open to traffic.
