I-376 Fort Pitt Tunnel, Bridge Overnight Restrictions Next Week in Pittsburgh

Overnight closures on the West Carson Street ramp to I-376 

Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing overnight restrictions on I-376 (Fort Pitt Tunnel, Fort Pitt Bridge) in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County will occur Monday through Thursday night, April 6-9 weather permitting.

I-376 restrictions will occur as needed nightly from 8:00 PM until 5:00 AM Monday through Thursday in the following locations:

  • I-376 in the eastbound (inbound) direction from the West End (Exit 69C) exit, through the Fort Pitt Tunnel and Fort Pitt Bridge, to the Grant Street (Exit 71A) exit – single-lane closure
  • I-376 in the westbound (outbound) direction from the Grant Street on-ramp, across the lower deck of the Fort Pitt Bridge to the West End (Exit 69C) exit – single lane closure

Additionally, a full closure will occur on the on-ramp from Route 837 (West Carson Street) to the eastbound (inbound) upper deck of the Fort Pitt Bridge. Traffic will be detoured.

Detours

To Downtown Pittsburgh

  • Continue southbound on West Carson Street (Route 837)
  • Turn left onto the South 10th Street Bridge
  • Turn left onto Second Avenue
  • Turn left onto B Street
  • Turn right onto First Avenue
  • Turn left onto Grant Street
  • Turn right onto Fort Pitt Boulevard
  • Turn right onto Commonwealth Place and follow back to the Boulevard of the Allies or Liberty Avenue
  • End detour

To Eastbound I-376 (Parkway East)

  • Continue southbound on West Carson Street (Route 837)
  • Turn left onto the South 10th Street Bridge
  • Turn right onto Second Avenue
  • Turn left onto Bates Street
  • Turn right onto the ramp to East 376
  • Merge onto eastbound (outbound) I-376
  • End detour

To I-279

  • Continue southbound on West Carson Street (Route 837)
  • Turn left onto the South 10th Street Bridge
  • Turn left onto Second Avenue
  • Turn left onto B Street
  • Turn right onto First Avenue
  • Turn left onto Grant Street
  • Turn right onto Fort Pitt Boulevard
  • Bear left onto the ramp to I-279
  • End detour

PennDOT crews will conduct overhead sign replacement work and NBIS will perform bridge inspections.
