Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing bridge inspection activities along I-279 Parkway North, I-579 Veterans Bridge and associated ramps in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County will begin today, Wednesday, October 7 weather permitting.
To accommodate inspection activities, there will be alternating lane restrictions and traffic shifts from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the following locations according to the schedule below:
Wednesday, October 7
- A lane restriction will occur on northbound I-579 between the Veterans Bridge and northbound I-279.
Thursday, October 8
- A lane restriction will occur on northbound I-579 between the Veterans Bridge and northbound I-279.
- A traffic shift will occur on the southbound Route 28 ramp to the Veterans Bridge (South I-579 to East I-376).
- A traffic shift will occur on the southbound Route 28 ramp to the Fort Pitt Bridge (South I-279 to West I-376).
Friday, October 9
- A lane restriction will occur on northbound I-579 between the Veterans Bridge and northbound I-279.
- A lane restriction will occur on northbound I-279 between the Chestnut Street/East Ohio Street/Etna (Exit 1D) off-ramp and the East Ohio Street overpass.
Crews from Mackin Engineering and the Sofis Rigging Company will conduct the inspection activities. All ramps will remain open.
